Spin the Globe Language Summer Camps

Gain Ville provides language summer camps that promote global citizenship through authentic language and cultural immersion experiences.   For Summer of 2025, we will be offering our Spanish Hola Amigos™, Bonjour Les Amis™ and Italian Ciao Amici™ camps for independent preschoolers ages 4 and 5 and to Rising 1st to 6th Graders.

Our 2025 Language Day Camps will be held at our learning centers in Rutherford and Ho-Ho-Kus, both indoors & outdoors. We are offering Spanish, Italian and French camps and students choose a 1-6 week camp session.

Campers are placed in PK II, Grades K-2 and Gr. 3-5 groups.  Summer camp will consist of language games, vocabulary and grammar enrichment activities, arts & crafts virtual cultural tours, local excursions by foot, movies and so much more!

Our Spin the Globe summer programs, offer preschoolers and K-5 students with 6 fun summer themed language camp experiences to choose from. Our camps serve students with varied levels of language proficiency and group placement is determined upon assessment on the first day of camp. Students with no prior language exposure are welcome.

Our Hola Amigos™ camp program promotes love for the Spanish language through cultural themes that focus on target subcultures including the Caribbean, South America, Spain and the U.S. Hispanic culture.

Our Ciao Amici™ camp program promotes love for the Italian language through cultural themes that focus on target subcultures including the Italian constituency of Argentina & Chile, Northern and Central Italy, Southern Italy and parts of Switzerland.

Our Bonjour Les Amis™ camp program promotes love for the French language through cultural themes that focus on the French diaspora in Europe, Africa, Canada, West Indies and Louisiana.

Immersion Method

All activities are offered in Spanish, Italian or French using the full immersion method by native language instructors. 

 

Morning Language Lesson

Language Lesson, Sentence structure, Vocabulary and Fluency.  Each language lesson begins with a 5 minute review of previous lesson.

Regional Cultural Workshop

Lunch

Provided by parents, offered socially distanced either outdoors garden or indoor (big theatre space). Kids with allergies seated at separate table.  List of allergies provided for each concerned child to ensure kids don’t bring to camp.

Theatre Arts

Builds on Regional Cultural Workshops through interactive theatre skits that focus on target regional cluster while introducing region’s geography, history, customs, traditions and celebrations

Arts & Cultural Crafts/Music & Dance Workshop

Alternates daily: students learn about art or music in target region and then engage in cultural crafts and/or group dance.

Interactive Games/Local Town Excursion/Language Movie

Children learn language while having fun.  Students participate in interactive indoor and outdoor activities that include language games, guided excursions by foot to explore the local sights & sounds in the target language, not to mention learning how to place an order from the ice cream truck in their chosen language.   On Fridays, students alternate between watching excerpts of a movie and participating in a book reading followed by a movie/book discussion in their chosen language.
